More Info / Tickets

The Presidential Lecture & Performance Series continues its Centennial celebration with the 9th annual Lubbock Lights festival, this year with Lubbock’s Maines Brothers Band. The series honors the rich musical heritage of the South Plains with a new local lineup each year and there is no better way to celebrate the area’s musicianship than by partnering with the Lubbock Arts Alliance to close the 45th Arts Festival. The Maines Brothers Band got its start in the mid-1950s with James and Sonny Maines, father and uncle of the Lloyd/ Donnie/ Kenny/Steve combo that eventually formed the band. Maines family lived in and around Lubbock, Texas, and the band was based there and several albums and tracks are named after the area, including “Hub City Moan” (1981 album and track).
