BIO
I’m a nature photographer currently based in Lubbock, Texas. My life, for as long as I can remember, has been deeply rooted in the outdoors. I owe this to my father, who is an archer, bowhunter, and for much of my young life was an active member of conservation efforts in the state of Missouri. Thanks to my dad, I had a very clear understanding of the interconnectedness of the more-than-human world long before I learned the buzzwords that others were using to talk about it in books and poems and academic research. The first time I read a deep ecology essay by Gary Snyder was like returning home but with different words to describe it. Since my childhood, wilderness has continued to provide me with the most spiritually, emotionally, and physically significant experiences of my life. As a human being, I feel an immense sense of gratitude for this. As a photographic artist I wish to express this gratitude as well as a sense of urgent responsibility to protect and honor the ecosystems that sustain us.
