Yvonne Garro Mendoza

Artist Biography

My name is Yvonne Garro Mendoza and I am a potter. I have been a practicing potter for 12 years. During this time I have created many small batches of functional wares and small sculptures. I have had the honor participating in two national venues and many local venues. I am the most proud of my “Sheep, Sheep, Sheep” exhibit at the Louise Hopkins Center for the Arts in Lubbock, Texas. There I exhibited 33 clay sculpture sheep that I made in several different sizes. It was a joint exhibit with a painter. I have exhibited in the Lubbock Christian University Alumni Show for the last 5 years. There I exhibited a framed clay relief, large handmade bowls and a series of sculpted figures.

I have participated in venues and events in Lubbock, Texas such as First Fridays Art Trail, Llano Estacado Wine and Clay Festival, The Llano Estacado Clay Guild Annual Show, Impact Charity Event, the Lubbock Municipal Arts Center, the Glassy Alley Gallery and Bybee’s Objet D’Art Gallery. I also participanted and won “Honorable Mention”at the San Angelo Texas Six Pack Competition and Best I Show for the 2022 National Arts Competition for my sculptures.
I plan on continuing to create art with clay and other medias as an artist.
