DR. FABIO AUGUSTINIS

Assistant Professor of Practice in Commercial Music and Drum Set

Dr. Fabio Augustinis coordinates the Commercial Music programs at Texas Tech University. Renowned for his expertise, he has presented at esteemed conferences such as the Jazz Education Network (JEN) and International Conference and the International Society of Jazz Arrangers and Composers (ISJAC) Symposium. He has also been a featured soloist, guest artist, and clinician at the Gene Harris Jazz Festival at Boise State University in Idaho. Dr. Augustinis was the recipient of the Eleanor Stribling Award for Excellence in Jazz Studies in November of 2020 at the Sarah and Ernest Butler School of Music. His versatile artistry extends to approximately 30 commercially released albums across jazz, “Latin,” and commercial music genres.

AMY FARIS

Assistant Professor of Practice in Commercial Music and Songwriting

Composer, songwriter, pianist, recording artist, and arranger Amy Faris teaches songwriting at Texas Tech University. She has toured and recorded with numerous rock bands and performed with such luminaries as Mac Davis, Joe Ely, and Terry Allen. Her music has been featured on radio, film, and television shows including 24 Frames, CLICK: Behind the Curtain, and Sound on Tap. In 2013, Amy and her husband, guitarist/record producer Scott Faris, composed a new original soundtrack for the silent film Metropolis. The two-and-a-half-hour score entitled Metropolis Elektro features diverse genres for an ensemble of 24, and its sold-out live performances garnered critical acclaim. For this accomplishment, Faris was honored with the 2015 YWCA Woman of Excellence award in Arts and Culture.
