So often, the power of music comes alongside a great cause to impact lives for good. The Inside Out Foundation (IOF) has hosted the Annual Women’s Health Seminar for the last ten years to promote the importance of women’s preventative health care, introduce new women’s products and services and celebrate recovery. In celebrating their 10th year, Inside Out Foundation is showcasing the one and only Kelly Lang (featured picture) who will be performing this year alongside Lubbock’s own Cathy Jewell (pictured).
Lang is an American Country Music Hall of Fame member and a breast cancer survivor. She has used her song “I’m Not Going Anywhere” to share her own cancer story. Lang has also written a book by the same title. Her message of survivorship coincides beautifully with IOF’s own work in supporting breast cancer patients and survivors.
Lang is not only a performer, but a songwriter too whose compositions have been performed by Ricky Skaggs, Lorrie Morgan, The Oak Ridge Boys, Crystal Gayle, and George Jones. She has also performed duets with Dame Olivia Newton-John and Lee Greenwood. Lang also has a children’s album called Lullaby Country. An artist for the ages, she has appeared multiple times on the Grand Ole Opry, is a member of the North American Country Music Hall of Fame, and a three time Star Search winner. She is also an accomplished visual artist, with paintings in the homes of Oprah Winfrey, Sir Barry Gibb and Dame Olivia Newton-John.
In addition to Lang’s performance, attendees will also enjoy a performance by local singer/songwriter Cathy Jewell. Jewell is a West Texas born and bred singer, songwriter, radio personality, businesswoman and mom. Her style is full of energy and emotion. Born into a radio family, she began her musical journey as a child. She owns KSSL Radio and hosts the God’s Country Gospel program on the station. Albums include: “Please Blue Moon” and “You Are Engraved on the Palms of My Hands”.
Lang and Jewell will make for a very entertaining event on January 15 and these two talented ladies are two you don’t want to miss. The Inside Out Foundation created this event to support its work with women who are undergoing treatment for breast cancer and need support during the process. IOF assists with head coverings (including wig fittings), prosthetics, cosmetics (for scarring and healing) and many other unique needs for these patients.
It will be an amazing day to support a great cause and enjoy some fantastic music. There is a virtual option for those who can’t attend as well. For tickets to either viewing option, you can reach out to IOF at 806-722-0750.
