BIO
Cary C Banks is a musician/songwriter/author and former music educator at South Plains College. As a member of the Maines Brothers Band, he was inducted into the West Texas Walk of Fame in 1993, was awarded a Silver Telly Video Award as a featured artist and guest host of the PBS television series “Story Tellers and Music Makers. He was awarded 1st Place in the Los Angeles Song Writer Showcase Song Contest in 1983 for his song “Lay It Down”. He received a Kopps Feathering International Book Award for his book “Almost Like a Professional” My life and career as a West Texas Musician. His original songs “More Love”, “Sittin’ around Pickin'”, “PLayscape” and “Don’t Look Back” have been featured on Lubbock Music Now compilation CDs. He was Professor of Music and Chairman of the Creative Arts Department at South Plains College for 23 years. He has performed onstage with many well known artists including : Linda Ronstadt, Bo Diddley, Richie McDonald, Terry Allen, Radney Foster, Pat Green. Terri Hendrix, The Dixie Chicks, Jody Nix and many others. He currently performs in the greater West Texas area with guitarist Steve Williams, The Gathering Band, The Maines Brothers Band and various West Texas artists including Hannah Jackson, Gabbie Schilling.

Cary C Banks music is a rich mixture of country, Americana, swing , jazz, gospel and pop. His albums “A Long Time Since it Rained” “Piano”, “Twist Tweak and Twang” feature both piano and guitar instrumental as well as vocal recordings his popular original songs.
