Shelley King

Shelley King is Royalty in Texas. 2008 Texas State Musician, Shelley King has been an ambassador of the Austin, Texas sound for over twenty years. Noted vocalist and songwriter, studio musician, touring side musician and producer King is also a successful solo artist and leads her own band of A-list musicians. King’s blend of blues, folk, country, soul and rock led her to be the first woman appointed by the Texas Legislature to represent the state as its Official Musician. 

She has won Austin Music Awards for Song of the Year and Best Roots Rock Band. Shelley has released ten albums of original music to rave press reviews and radio chart success. King tours Texas and the US performing almost nightly at intimate concerts, clubs and major venues and festivals. Her songs have been recorded by numerous national and international artists.

Clement Hall Band

Clement Hall is an indie/alternative rock band based in Lubbock, Texas, known for energetic live shows and hooky, guitar-driven songs that have made them a rising staple of the local college and arts scene. The group was started by frontman Luke Hamaker and bassist Aidan Haydu while in college, taking their name from the residence hall where they first met and began playing music together.

Emerging from the Texas Tech–centered indie circuit, Clement Hall has built momentum through frequent performances at Lubbock venues and festivals, where they blend driving rock rhythms with melodic, emotive vocals. Their growing regional following and early recorded work have positioned them as one of Lubbock’s notable new indie acts, with new studio releases expanding their reach beyond West Texas.

Thomas Boyd

Thomas Boyd is a Webby-nominated video editor, filmmaker, and podcast producer whose work centers on telling dynamic visual stories for Texas Tech University. At Texas Tech, he serves in a creative production role that spans video editing, filmmaking, and audio engineering, contributing to major university pieces including athletics content and institutional storytelling projects.​

Boyd’s portfolio includes credited work as a filmmaker, video editor, and audio technician on official Texas Tech video releases, showcasing his range from concept to final cut. In addition to his university role, he develops independent creative projects such as the film “Flatland Forever,” reflecting a continued focus on West Texas–rooted narratives and highly polished, emotionally resonant visual production.​

Joy Harris

Joy Harris is a versatile, Lubbock-based multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and songwriter known for an eclectic style that blends soul, jazz, gospel, and pop influences. A Lubbock resident since childhood, she began studying piano at a young age and first performed in church, later growing into a sought-after performer for restaurants, private events, festivals, and touring dates across the United States.​

Harris performs both as a solo act and with various ensembles, often singing and playing bass while drawing on her deep roots in church music and downtown Lubbock’s arts community. Beyond performing, she is dedicated to continuous learning and creativity, emphasizing joy, versatility, and connection in every show, which has made her a beloved figure in the West Texas music scene.​​

Jonny Verbeten

Jonny Verbeten is a Lubbock-based jazz pianist and bandleader known for bringing classic, straight-ahead jazz to West Texas as both a solo performer and with his Jonny Verbeten Trio. Formed in 2022, the trio features Verbeten on piano with Dustin Pedigo on upright bass and Tristan Nock on drums, delivering energetic, swing-influenced sets at venues, festivals, and concert series such as the Buddy Holly Center’s Summer Showcase.

In addition to his work with the trio, Verbeten maintains an active solo career, appearing across the region as a jazz pianist while also engaging with the local arts community through collaborations and educational ties to Texas Tech University. His performances highlight a deep grounding in jazz tradition paired with a warm, approachable stage presence that has helped make him a staple of the Hub City’s growing jazz scene. Jonny holds a PhD in Fine Arts, Musicology and is the Assistant Director, Presidential Lecture and Performance Series at Texas Tech University.
